Continuing the publication cycle "Polonica" started in 1999, the Polish Post will introduce four more postal stamps into the market. They represent:

Value PLN 1.00 - the Polish Scientific Institute and the Wanda Stachiewicz Polish Library in Canada. Both institutions have been functioning at the McGill University in Montreal, Canada, since 1943. The library, bearing the name of its founder, Wanda Stachiewicz, since 1984, is the only Polish independent university and public library in North America. Its collections contain over 42,000 books.

Value PLN 1.90 - Józef Piłsudski Institute in America. It was founded in 1923 in Warsaw, and revived in New York in July 1943. Its goal is to obtain archives concerning the period after the January Uprising, publication of scientific works, as well as carrying out research on the newest history of Poland.

Value PLN 2.10 - Archives, Library and Museums of Polonia in Orchard Lake. The collections have been connected with Polonian Scientific Plants of the Polish Seminar in Orchard Lake, Michigan, USA, for over one hundred years. The library started its activities with a small collection of religious books collected by Father Józef D±browski, founder and the first rector of the Polish Seminar.

Value PLN 2.20 - The Polish Museum in Chicago. Its beginnings date back to 1912, when there were founded the archives and library of the Polish Roman-Catholic Union in America. It was officially opened in 1937. Expositions about Paderewski and Ko¶ciuszko are especially worth mentioning here. The art gallery housed there presents ca. 400 pictures by Polish painters headed by Wojciech Kossak. It is supplemented by the archives and a library with over 300,000 volumes by Polish and Polish-American writers.

On the day of introducing the stamps into the market, there will be sold a first day envelope (FDC) with a special date seal in the Post Office Warsaw 1.

On June 20th, the Polish Post will introduce two more stamps from the issue of "Polish Manor Houses" into the trade.

PLN 0.10 - Lipków near Warsaw. Early classicist manor house of Baroque features, designed in 1792. At present there is located the chamber of souvenirs of Henryk Sienkiewicz. The writer stayed in Lipków and described the place in his novel "With Fire and Sword": the famous duel between Wołodyjowski and Bohun took place there. The manor house was burnt down in 1948 and it was reconstructed in 1957.

PLN 1.50 - Sulejówek near Warsaw. The manor house was designed by Kazimierz Skórewicz in the so-called "manor house style". It was constructed for Józef Piłsudski as a gift of soldiers from the Legions for their commander. It was transferred for usage in 1923. A kindergarten is housed there at the moment.

The May 1901 in Wrze¶nia was the time to remember. Due to the intensification of Germanization processes the children from the local school went on a strike. Those who refused to speak German and use German catechisms were punished with the lash. The parents of the punished children who gathered around the school building stood up for their children. There were arrests and a lawsuit resulting in dozen or so people condemned up to two years of imprisonment.

The strike in Wrze¶nia had wide repercussions all over the partitioned Poland. It was discussed also in European journals thanks to the open letter of Henryk Sienkiewicz to the Emperor Wilhelm II.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of those events Poczta Polska will introduce into circulation the new post stamp presenting the stained-glass window from the parish church in Wrze¶nia by Marian Turwid "The Christ Blessing the Wrze¶nia Children".

On the first day of circulation we will be selling the First Day Circulation (FDC) envelope stamped with an appropriate date-maker used by the Wrze¶nia 1 Post Office.

This year Poczta Polska following other postal administrations for the first time will introduce into circulation the greetings stamps of the "Greetings" issue.

The stamps bearing the inscriptions "Holiday Greetings" and "Best Wishes" will specify the type of the message thus meeting the customer's needs.

On the first day of circulation we will be selling 2 types of envelopes of the First Day Circulation (FDC) stamped with an appropriate date-maker used by the Warszawa 1 Post Office.

The Polish Post continues to publish stamps within the cycle "Europe together with other postal administrations every year. The topic of this year's issue includes "Water - Natural Resource".

Parallely with the development of our civilization, the resources of pure water shrink in our planet. This is why there are undertaken activities to increase the conscience of the society in the field of the protection of water resources. The Polish Post, whishing to join the action, will introduce into the market a postal stamp, representing the earth globe inside a drop of water.

The 12th World Championships of the Salesian Youth will take place in Warsaw on April 28th - May 3rd, 2001. Previous championships were organized nine times in the following countries: Malta 1990 and 1994, Spain 1991, Italy 1992 and 1998, Slovenia 1993, Portugal 1995, Sicily 1996, Poland 1997.

People representing the Salesian Sports Organization of the Republic of Poland SALOS RP will also participate in the vent. It was registered as an association of the physical culture on June 29th, 1992. Its basic goal is to develop educational, cultural, and social aspects of sport, according to the rule "ALWAYS FAIR PLAY". It addresses its variable program offer to all young persons, especially to those poor and not wealthy.
